3G Antennas

Over the last twenty years the Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) network has evolved from simple voice capability to a system with the ability to transmit data across the network seamlessly. It has been able to do this by the implementation of expansions to the network using General Packet Radio Services (GPRS) and Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution (EDGE), which then led to the third generation (3G or UMTS) services with their much faster download speed.

The Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) is a third generation (3G) mobile cellular system for networks based on the GSM standard. UMTS uses wideband code division multiple access (W-CDMA) radio access technology to offer greater spectral efficiency and bandwidth to mobile network operators.

Unlike Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution (EDGE) and Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA 2000), UMTS requires new base stations and new frequency allocations with the result that a different set of hardware is needed to access the network.

Siretta has developed a range of terminals and antennas which interact with the UMTS network providing greater download speeds and increased data transfer. In the Machine to Machine (M2M) ecosystem the requirements for more information and larger data transfer have led to huge market growth in this area. With increased data rates more relevant information can be quickly retrieved allowing customers to react to changes very quickly.

As more and more information becomes available the need to download and retrieve this information becomes more important. Siretta terminals and antennas are designed to integrate with the networks and have been tested and approved by many Blue-chip organisations.
