Out of more than 75 applicants for this award, all with their respective innovations, Sequoia has been included in the shortlist of 20 companies to be reviewed at the Pre Mobile World Congress media event at BIS HQ on the 23rd Jan.
What is the Sequoia Technology mobile innovation?
Sequoia Technology’s innovation is a GSM gateway design along with a GPRS enabled mini printer to enable detailed and sensitive data, such as individual medical test results to be transmitted to appropriate clinics quickly, completely, with zero loss of data and to any precise location in the world. The innovation incorporates the ability to handshake every printer to server to ensure all data has been passed correctly and completely. The no. of printers that can be handled is infinite ensuring scalability in any application. The innovation also includes the sending database to be able to see the status of all printers, how many messages have been sent and when, how many are pending, which are on-line, how long they have been on line and a geographic map of all printer locations and their instant status. The innovation handles poor power infrastructure well, as happens in remote locations. No data is lost in power out situations.
Where has the innovation been applied?
The Sequoia innovation has been applied very successfully across all maternity clinics (300 plus) in Mozambique, wherever they are in the country, for HIV testing. The vastly speeded up HIV lab test results back to the local clinic has significantly reduced the incidence of HIV pass through from Mother to child. This is by being able to resolve which Mother to be is HIV positive early enough and to be able to treat with AVR as well as being able to test the newborns and have those with HIV treated early. The pre Sequoia innovation lab test routine took up to 6 months to return test results with consequent serious loss of newborn life. Now it is one month or less and <1% of HIV pass through from Mother to child compared with upto 40% of HIV pass through without the Sequoia system.
Kenya and Zimbabwe are trialing the same Sequoia system based on the Mozambique experience. The Sequoia innovation is also being trialed by an African bank to be used in shops to pay for products by directly accessing the person’s bank account and the shop debiting that account and then the printer giving the customer the receipt of confirmation of payment by their bank.
How scalable is the Sequoia innovation?
The Sequoia innovation is truly scalable in size and cuts across all industries. It works with all GSM networks in any country. The no. of printers that can be used with any iteration of our Gateway is infinite – just depending on the server resource applied to the application. In the UK the fast food industry is using the Sequoia innovation where the printer is in the kitchens of fast food outlets and orders are received over the printer from fast food web portals used by the public.

The New Sequoia Technology Heat Flux Sensor Manual Explains All

The Sequoia Technology Heat Flux Sensor Manual, available for download is a comprehensive document detailing all you need to know about Heat Flux Sensors, how they are used, where they deployed and the benefits they can give in saving energy.
For the first time you can find all the information that is relevant to Heat Flux Sensors. This manual will explain how these sensors work and the many types that are available, including flat plate, thermogage, thin film type and Schmidt Boelter sensors. There is information on how to mount these sensors and the types of Amplifiers available to read the information and how to apply the output to everyday use.
The application notes section includes all manner of useful information, covering importance of emissivity, noise reduction and theoretical noise limits for heat flux measurement and absorbed vs. incident heat flux calibration.
In short a Heat Flux Sensor measures the heat transfer (loss or gain) through a surface. This information is conveyed in a simple form, so that the user can determine the amount of heat loss (or gain) through the surface of the material being tested.
Uses are many and varied, including how effective wall insulations are for buildings, the effect fires and flames have, heat applied in food preparation ovens, amount of heat escaping from furnaces and heat energy escaping from engines.
As it can be seen the temperatures involved in many of these applications can reach hundreds of degrees. For this reason, heat flux sensors have been developed to either withstand temperatures of up to 850°C. For applications for higher temperatures still, water cooled heat flux sensors are manufactured that have a cooling effect on the sensor.

With this integration, Samsung consumers will be able to view and share HD content from MHL-enabled mobile devices directly to their MHL-enabled Smart TVs. The Samsung Smart TVs add to the growing MHL ecosystem of DTVs, mobile devices and adapters, including the globally available Samsung Galaxy S II smartphones and the recently announced Samsung Galaxy Note—all with MHL connectivity.
MHL technology is a rapidly growing HD audio/video connectivity standard that enables a mobile device to transmit 1080p uncompressed video with up to eight channels of digital audio, while also supporting HDCP content protection, over five pins. In addition, MHL-enabled HDTVs and displays provide power to the mobile device when connected, ensuring that the phone battery is charged and ready to use even after viewing a full-length feature movie. Quantum Data 980 Protocol Analyzer Approved for Use in HDMI® ATC

Initial approval covers 4K x 2K video format compliance testing for HDMI sources
Quantum Data™, a worldwide provider of video test equipment, has announced that their source compliance test tool has been approved by the HDMI technical committee for use in the HDMI Authorized Test Centers (ATCs). The approved source compliance test tool is part of the 980 Protocol Analyzer 297MHz “Gen 3” model. This initial approval for the HDMI CTS version 1.4b covers the 4Kx2K Video Format Timing Test ID 7-39 for HDMI source devices. The HDMI CTS version 1.4a had not identified recommended test equipment for the 7-39 Test ID.
Quantum Data has consistently provided compliance test solutions for the HDMI ecosystem. These solutions include CEC compliance, HDCP compliance, and EDID compliance available on the 882 platform and more recently HDMI source and sink compliance tests offered in the 980 Protocol Analyzer.

The 980 Protocol Analyzer compliance test tools support a broad range of HDMI source and sink compliance tests. The 980 Protocol Analyzer provides developers with complete visibility into the HDMI protocol, control, metadata, timing data and auxiliary data at the higher HDMI 1.4 pixel rates up to 297MHz. Unlike competing analyzers for HDMI source testing, the 980 captures all data islands and control events and assigns precise timestamps to each event even when packets are transmitted in rapid succession.

Siretta release high gain 2.4GHz antenna for outdoor use

Siretta Antennas, the Berkshire, UK based M2M antenna specialist today announced the release of its Oscar 15 antenna, a rugged 2.4GHz antenna designed for increasing working range between access points and remote sites.
The Oscar 15 antenna uses a high gain directional patch design enabling it to operate on the licence exempt 2.4-2.5GHz ISM band. This ensures its suitability to operate with Bluetooth and WiFi (802.11) networks, ZigBee mesh networked systems (802.15.4) as well as other proprietary networks.
Increasing the working range of up to 850 metres when compared to a 0dB antenna tuned on comparable frequencies, Oscar 15 ensures high data rates can be achieved over longer line of sight distances whilst using standard wireless equipment.

Due to popular demand we have tested this with a YUASA 12V, 17Ah battery and had an Icarus running continuously for one week recording the temperature every 30 minutes and sending the temperature datalog email once a day, we also simulated 2 temperature warning messages per day. New Wireless Temperature and Humidity Solution from Sequoia

The Sequoia Wireless Sensor (SWS) range is a very user friendly solution for monitoring and recording temperature readings from -10⁰C to +50⁰C and humidity readings from 0~100%RH. Using a central Ethernet base station SWS-R1, which communicates wirelessly to battery operated compact sensor units SWS-TH1. The data is sent back to an easy to use software program which graphical displays current and previous readings.

The SWS series use a wireless system without the user needing to have any technical knowledge on wireless networks. Setup and running in 5 simple steps.
1. Just Place the SWS-TH1 sensors in the areas you wish to monitor.
2. Place the gateway unit (SWS-R1) near your PC or suitable LAN connection and connect the Ethernet cable.
3. Switch all sensor units on, along with the gateway unit.
4. Press the communicate button on each sensor unit.
5. All sensor units will then communicate with the gateway unit, passing the temperature and humidity information to the gateway unit to enable the user to see the consolidated information on a PC.
The maximum range of this system is approximately 120 metres from each sensor unit to the gateway. This enables a sizeable area to be covered with multiple sensor units. The gateway unit has to be in range of all sensor units deployed. Email alerts can be sent if the temperature or humidity reading goes outside parameters set by the user.
Additional sensor units can be added to an existing network as required. Just add the extra sensor units switch them on and place in your desired position in range of the existing working gateway (120m) and all will connect seamlessly with no further intervention by the user. Up to 90 sensor units can be added to connect with one gateway.

The SWS-TH1 can be used to build up a picture of the environmental conditions throughout a building or complex. Siretta Antennas announce 4G compatibility of Cellular Antenna range

Siretta Antennas – the Berkshire, U.K based M2M antenna specialist today announced that their range of Cellular antennas will be compatible with the European requirements of 4G.
4G is the fourth generation of cellular communications standard which is expected to succeed the current 3G and 2G standards. Its aim will be to provide a wider range of data rates of up to gigabit speed using a denser spread but lower powered set of cellsites, ensuring suitability for mobile and stationary users.
The European Commission decision has decreed that 4G communication devices are able to operate on the 900 / 1800MHz frequency bands and this must be implemented by EU Member States by the end of 2011. This will help to achieve the targets of the “Digital Agenda for Europe” which gives every European access to basic broadband by 2013 and fast and ultra fast broadband by 2020. Sequoia Technology Group Ltd Celebrates its 25th Birthday

On Feb 27th 2011 Sequoia Technology Group celebrated its 25th anniversary. Sequoia was incorporated as a new company in 1986 and started life as a high tech distributor of semiconductors. In the intervening years much has happened to Sequoia including a 6-7 year sojourn in the ownership of Tekelec SA, the French distributor. Then a management buy out in 2000, by the current directors, back to a private company again.
Today, Sequoia is a very different company with a strong concentration on wireless, video and remote monitoring expertise, employs 30 people and looks set to achieve a 20+% growth for the year ending March. Sequoia is now more a designer and manufacturer of wireless, kiosk and SMSprinter products a along with custom software and gateways and will continue to expand and add employees over the next period. New Four Sided Gamer Kiosk Tower Installed at South Worcester College

As a manufacturer and designer of innovative touch screen kiosk hardware and kiosk software, Kiosks4business designed the gamer tower kiosk for use in Youth clubs. The gamer kiosk houses a games console or other device to protect it against theft or damage during use.
Gamer kiosks are approx 2m high and 700mm wide on each face. The gamer kiosk now comes in a number of size options including a low cost (wall fixed) one side, two sided, three and four sided versions. Each side of the gamer tower can be customised for different applications. A side may have a screen for playing games or watching a video, alternatively it can feature a leaflet rack or a digital sign in portrait mode for advertising. The gamer towers are an imposing structure and work well as a central information point which you simply can’t miss as you enter a building. The gamer towers feature an industrial high definition HD monitor with audio built in. The monitor is protected behind a thick plastic bezel which runs from top to bottom on each side of the tower. The bezel uses a digital back-printed logo which can include any image you wish and makes the kiosk tower an engaging and exciting object. Additional LED lighting can be added to make the sides of the tower glow for added effect.
The original design was a three sided gamer tower manufactured for use in a youth club. Since then we have gone on to produce a two sided tower and have now produced our first four sided gamer tower. The four sided Gamer tower for South Worcester College has a built-in coin-op mechanisms which enables users to pay for 15mins usage of the tower. A LED countdown shows the time remaining and when time runs out, the screen switches to a media player input. The media player is loaded with a custom designed graphic with your logo and other images and can include audio. This is a great way to advertise messages to users of the tower and works well for youth clubs and other organisations working with young people.

Two new products introduced by Sequoia Technology Group
that distribute DVI signals from one source to many displays break cost and
technology barriers.
Many Digital Signage, Video wall, medical and military
applications require a single digital video source to be transmitted to several
digital displays using fibre optic extenders and distributors.
A fibre optic DVI extender allows digital video to travel
hundreds of meters, without losing any information from interference, allowing
the image or video to be shown on the display exactly how the sender expected
it. This is not possible using CAT5 type cables, as these are prone to
electromagnetic interference losing vital data during the video transfer.
The One Fibre Detachable DVI Extender DVFX-110 is the
latest in the line of Fibre Optic products from Sequoia Technology Group capable
of driving uncompressed WUXGS (1920x1200) 60 Hz DVI signals up to 1000 meters.
Furthermore the self EDID feature allows the EDID data to be read from the
display to transmit the video signal with the correct characteristics.
One important characteristic of DVFX-110 is that a single
signal from a source (PC, DVD, etc.) can be transmitted to up to 16 displays, or
sinks, using the OPS-XYZ passive splitter. The OPS-XYZ does not require external
power source, and along with the use of single fibre technology
reduces cost in material and installation.
The OPX-XYZ is available in a number of configurations,
starting from one input to 16 outputs, to two inputs and 16 outputs. Both the
DVFX-110 and the OPS-XYZ use standard LC connectors, popular in fibre optic
connections.

Low Cost Low Power 24-Bit Analog To Digital Converters
Sequoia Technology Group has launched a family of cost effective Sigma-Delta Analog to Digital converters reduces cost and power without compromising performance. Our new line of A/D converters designed for weigh scale, strain gauges, portable instrumentation and data acquisition provide exceptional performance, with optimised power consumption and allow design engineers the tools to reduce design time dramatically. Many features of these devices, including on chip LDO, low noise gain amplifier and on board crystal reduce external component requirements making it a must for any engineer requiring high performance at low power and low cost.
Both the parts in the family operate at -400C to +850C and are available in SOP and PDIP packages.

The Programmable Gain Amplifier (PGA) provides selectable gains from 1 to 128. The A/D conversion is performed with a Sigma-Delta modulator and programmable FIR filter that provides a simultaneous 50Hz and 60Hz notch filter to effectively improve interference immunity. Also available is a standard two wire interface, compatible with I2C protocol for simple and straightforward connection to a wide range of host microcontrollers.

The touchscreen is a glass backed 5 wire resistive touchscreen. This can be operated by any touch including gloved hands, and does not matter if grease and grime are present on the screen. It is very easily cleaned with ordinary glass cleaner.

The sturdy chassis has an integrated IP65 (dust and liquid proof) keyboard and trackball, keeping grime out and making it easy to clean. The Juno is designed to be wall mounted and can be locked to the wall bracket to prevent theft. Wall mount design helps to preserve valuable workbench space. The kiosk includes two cooling fans with fan filters to prevent dust ingress. The computing platform uses an industrial spec Mini-ITX motherboard with Intel Atom N270 processor.
User Identifier
The Juno II kiosk can be supplied with a unique magnetic key system for each indivual users identification.. Juno II used the I-button technology seen in EPOS systems in Pubs and Bars. The indentifier 'keys' are small, robust and can be worn on a keyring.
Because of the robust nature of the kiosk, it has a reliability rate far exceeding that of a standard PC in a workshop, warehouse or other environment, showing a clear return on investment.

Sequoia announce, new ultra low profile RF transceiver IC from Axsem

Sequoia Technology - the Berkshire based technology solutions company, with over 25 years expertise in enabling customers bring highly technical products to market, have announced the release of the AX5043, ultra low power RF transceiver IC.
The AX5043 is a single chip narrow-band RF transceiver, configurable to operate from 70MHz - 1.05GHz. With a receiver bandwidth of 1 - 100kHz, the AX5043 offers very long range with a small number of components.
The sensitivity of -126dBm at 868MHz and 1.2kbps FSK is one of the highest sensitivities in the market with only 10.5mA current draw. Together with the excellent power amplifier performance of 17dBm at 55mA current consumption, the AX5043 has the sensational link budget of 143dB. In "Wake on Radio mode", the current consumption is typically below 5uA.
The AX5043 transceiver consists of an integrated RF front end with modulator and demodulator and flexible communication controller. Baseband data processing is implemented in the integrated communication controller for user friendly communication and configuration via an SPI interface. The 256 byte packet buffer in conjunction with the 500nA wake up timer allows the AX5043 to work well together with low cost MCUs. The integrated HDLC protocol guarantees exceptionally compact code and small CPU overhead whilst the digital RSSI provides quick results for low power operation.

Sensormetrix Release New Low-Cost GSM Temperature Monitor

Breaking News: Sensormetrix & Sequoia Technology have designed and built a GSM remote monitoring device for monitoring and recording temperature information. This also alerts via SMS, Email and Ring Out if the temperature goes outside the user-defined safe limits.
This device is called 'Icarus'. It’s a compact unit with a 1.5 metre temperature probe attached, the Icarus kit includes everything you need except the GSM SIM card. (Compatible with any GSM network) The device is also wall mountable, all this for under £250.00
Steven Killick the Sensormetrix Product Manager said “We felt a real demand from our customers for a good value temperature monitoring system, which could alert you if temperature reaches an unsafe level no matter where you are. We decided the best way to achieve this was via SMS or Ring Out, during the design we added extra features like datalogging capability, email alerts and made the unit programmable via SMS.”
The Icarus-Temp has three alert modes which can all be enabled together or separately so if the temperature goes outside the safe limits you’ve set you’ll be notified.
Email – Icarus will email an assigned address.
SMS – Icarus will send a SMS text message to up to 2 mobile numbers
Ring Out – Icarus will dial a telephone number to ring the phone, using incoming caller ID you can see if the Icarus is calling you with a temperature issue, this option is good as it’s harder to miss a call compared to SMS ring tone.
Datalogger Feature
The Icarus will also record the temperature at set intervals and email a CSV file with the temperature history.
SMS Commands
Although you can easily configure the Icarus via a PC using a simple windows application, you can also send SMS commands to the Icarus to change various setting. For example change maximum and minimum temperature limits, or request the current temperature and the Icarus will text back the number that contacted it with the current information

GE865-QUAD:
The GE865-QUAD is the smallest QUAD BAND, GPRS, BGA (ball grid array) level device available in the M2M market today.

The HWg-WLD is able to detect water or other conductive liquid and then raise an alarm before the leak/flood becomes a costly problem. Sequoia Technology spearheads novel communications system to greatly improve the quality of Mozambique’s Early Infant Diagnosis program – the Expedited Results System (ERS)
From 2007 to 2009, Mozambique saw a rapid expansion of the National Early Infant Diagnosis programme for diagnosis of HIV/AIDS in newborn children to include over 235 health centers across the country. However, transportation of samples and results between remote districts and two central laboratories often takes many weeks. To accelerate the return of results, Sequoia Technology devised an innovative system, in conjunction with The Clinton Foundation, to allow laboratories to send and print test results directly in any health centre with GPRS network coverage. Called the Expedited Results System (ERS) it utilizes Sequoia designed system software, GPRS enabled printers and the local GSM network to vastly reduce the time and cost of transporting results from the laboratory to clinics accurately and reliably. ERS is managed centrally by an administrative assistant, reducing the workload of skilled laboratory technicians. Features of the Sequoia designed system are confidentiality and the delivery of results being guaranteed through automated monitoring and evaluation software over the African GSM network along with unique GPRS enable printers.
All health centres in Mozambique have now been fitted with Sequoia GPRS printers and the software and servers are based in Reading in the UK. The complete system has now been proved for a number of months now with 100% of all data messages being received correctly right across Mozambique. This system has now helped more than 20,000 infants since its inception in Mozambique. Sequoia is now poised to help all other African countries with this system via the Clinton Foundation
Background to introduction of the ERS system
In Mozambique, limited sample referral logistics, insufficient laboratory capacity and minimal numbers of skilled health care workers led to undesirably long turn around times for critical Early Infant Diagnosis (EID) results, significantly delaying treatment initiation, and ultimately contributing to child mortality. The ERS system was specifically designed to connect all the new health centres within Mozambique to the central laboratories to significantly speed up the early diagnosis of infants to HIV/AIDs specifically and other diseases.

Sequoia Announces the Release of the HWg-WLD Water Leak Detector

After much success with similar IP based temperature and humidity devices we’re pleased to offer a new IP based water leak detector to our portfolio.
The HWg-WLD is able to detect water or other conductive liquid and then raise an alarm before the leak/flood becomes a costly problem. The device features a built-in Web server with SNMP support and e-mail alerts, plus can control remote relay outputs over IP (switch remote relay ON/OFF if water leak is detected).

Typical applications can involve monitoring of coolant piping in air conditioning systems or water detection around technical areas. The water leak sensing cable is extremely versatile and can be wrapped around the piping, suspended under the piping, or laid on the bottom of a pipe duct.
The sensing cable detects as little as a few drops of the liquid and can be used to detect condensation. The WLD detection cables can be in lengths of 2+2m, 2+10m or 2+50m, after flooding the cable can be dried and reused.

Why Assisted GPS:
Assisted GPS, also known as A-GPS or AGPS, enhances the performance of standard GPS in devices connected to the cellular network. A-GPS improves the location performance of mobile devices in two ways:
-By helping obtain a faster "time to first fix" (TTFF). A-GPS acquires and stores information about the location of satellites via the cellular network so the information does not need to be downloaded via satellite.
-By helping position a mobile device when GPS signals are weak or not available. GPS satellite signals may be impeded by tall buildings, and do not penetrate building interiors well. A-GPS uses proximity to cellular towers to calculate position when GPS signals are not available.
The SE867-GPS includes an internal processor and an 8Mb flash memory with 44 channel operation and less than 35 sec time to first fix (TTFF) making the SE867-GPS module one of the leading receivers in the market place.

3D video support added to the Quantum Data 780

Sequoia Technology today announced support for HDMI 1.4a 3D testing on the 780 Handheld Test Instrument for HDMI. The 780 is a battery powered, portable multimedia A/V signal generator and analyzer that can quickly check the HDMI digital ports on HDMI devices such as HDTVs, projectors, repeaters, A/V receivers, players, set-top-boxes, etc.
The 780 instrument's 3D capabilities include features for testing both source devices and sink devices equipped with 3D. In the initial release, two 3D format structures are supported-Side-by-Side half and Top-and-Bottom-additional 3D formats will be available in the near future. Users can select any of the HDMI 1.3 3D resolutions (timings) through the 780's touch screen display.
For testing HDMI sink devices, the 780 can render a variety of standard 2D patterns and can now render 3D bitmap patterns as well. Users can create their own 3D bitmaps from existing stereoscopic image pairs using Quantum Data's free 3D Bitmap Conversion Tool. When 3D video is transmitted from the 780, it also transmits the necessary 3D infoframe metadata in the HDMI Vendor Specific Infoframe. In this way, an HDTV's response to 3D metadata can be verified.
For testing HDMI 3D-capable source devices, the 780 parses the incoming 3D video and displays the left and right eye images on the 780's built-in display. With the 780's Network Analyzer option, the 3D infoframe metadata and timing data, transmitted from the source device, can be examined as well.
Additional 3D-related enhancements are planned. More 3D format structures will be supported as well as the parsing and display of 3D related EDID data from a 3D-equipped HDMI sink. Also planned is support for emulating the EDID of a 3D-equipped sink.
The 780 combines versatility, portability with ease of use and at an attractive price. Whether in the development lab or out in the field, the 780 is an ideal tool for investigating interoperability problems or conducting routine testing of sources and sinks. Existing 780 owners can download the 3D update for free.

Remote Monitoring EM01b Websensor re-engineered by Sequoia Technology for robustness and low cost

Following on from the success and popularity of the EM01b used in server rooms and in IT circles generally, for monitoring temperature , humidity and light levels over the internet, Sequoia has re-engineered the EM01b to be more robust and now selling at a much lower cost of £250. Sequoia is also about to re-introduce the ES01 display unit to be used on the ES bus of the EM01b. The ES01 has also been re-engineered to be smaller and much lower cost. This unit continuously displays the temperature, humidity and light levels that the EM01b is sensing and comes with a 3m cable. The ES01 is powered from the EM01b. We expect to be bundling the EM01b and ES01 very shortly with a considerable saving in cost.
The EM01b websensor comes alive when used with Nagios where alarm situations can be set up for email or SMS email messages to be sent automatically. The EM01b is a really useful remote monitoring tool and in use in many countries to date. This new generation should appeal to even more situations with its new low price and new accessories.

DDC Monitoring option for 780 Handheld Test Instrument for HDMI now available

Sequoia Technology, today announced the release of an Auxiliary Channel Analyzer (ACA) feature on the 780 Handheld Test Instrument for HDMI. The 780 is a battery powered, portable multimedia A/V signal generator and analyzer that can quickly check the HDMI digital ports on HDMI 1.3 devices such as HDTVs, projectors, repeaters, A/V receivers, players, set-top-boxes, etc.
The 780 instrument's optional Auxiliary Channel Analyzer (ACA) feature is available in two configurations: 1) for monitoring DDC channel(s) and hot plug detect while emulating an HDMI source or sink device (available now); 2) for passive monitoring ("sniffing") DDC channel(s), hot plug detect lines, and CEC buses (available soon). The ability to passively monitor two separate sets of auxiliary data is especially useful for analyzing interoperability problems in an HDMI system comprised of three devices (source, repeater and sink).
The ACA feature enables installers, lab technicians and engineers to monitor DDC transactions such as HDCP and EDID as well as hot plug related events while emulating device(s) in the HDMI system. Since the 780 can emulate a known-good source and/or a known-good sink, operators can sequentially substitute for each device in the system to isolate an interoperability problem. The 780 can even monitor on both sides of a repeater device while emulating both the source and sink devices for trouble isolation.
With the 780 ACA passive monitoring capabilities, users can connect to an HDMI system to passively monitor each side of a repeater device such as an A/V receiver. The 780's ACA feature offers the additional flexibility to monitor passively on one side of an HDMI system while emulating an HDMI device and monitoring its transactions on the other side. For example, the 780 can emulate a set top box (STB) connected to the input side of an A/V receiver and monitor on the output side of the A/V receiver between it and the HDTV. Alternatively, troubleshooting personnel can emulate the HDTV connected to the output side of an A/V receiver while passively monitoring the upstream side between the STB and the input of the A/V receiver. In each case, the two sides of the HDMI-HDCP system transactions--upstream and downstream--are shown interleaved on the 780 GUI to provide an integrated view.
The ability to substitute for each device in an HDMI system, one by one, while emulating a known-good device and monitoring all transactions--upstream and downstream--is critical for troubleshooting HDMI interoperability problems especially when you can passively monitor one side of the HDMI system and emulate the other side.
The DDC transactions, CEC messages and hot plug events are decoded and presented sequentially on the 780's colour display. Operators can highlight a transaction and view its details in human readable text. Users can save a trace file and export it to a PC for dissemination to colleagues and subject matter experts for further analysis on the standalone ACA application available free from the Quantum Data website.

IP WatchDog HWg-WR02a: Ping Restarter

IP WatchDog WR02a monitors whether a controlled device, or an Internet connection, is "alive". If the correct reply is not received in time, the controlled device is restarted using a relay, or a back-up connection is activated.

Wireless Technology Seminar
Sequoia Technology - the technology solutions company with over 20 years expertise in bringing highly technical products to market are holding a Wireless Technology Seminar to be held at the Sequoia offices in Reading - on Thursday 4th March 2010.
The event is free of charge to attend and confirmed speakers include, Jennic - representing 802.15.4 technology, Telit - representing GPRS and 3G technology and Wireless Logic - representing the Cellular Networks. They will be on hand, alongside members of the Sequoia team to discuss your application and answer any questions throughout the day.
The aim is to share knowledge about the capabilities and future roadmaps on various wireless technologies and to identify markets and opportunities on which to focus future technical works. The seminar is pitched at engineers and technical management of organisations who have a requirement for wireless technology in their products.
Delegates can attend morning and afternoon sessions and we encourage both, as this would be beneficial to learn more on this fast moving subject area. A light lunch is provided for all day delegates.

HW group: Poseidon 4002 Rack mount environment monitoring

The Poseidon 4002 is a 19" 1U rack mount system for datacenter temperature and environment monitoring. The Poseidon presents the solution for monitoring of the racks and computer rooms (temperature, humidity, electricity supply, access to the room, detectors). The device alerts by e-mail, SNMP traps, SMS, output relays.
The Poseidon 4002 is a complete system for environment monitoring in a 19" rack, an entire server room or in a datacenter. The 4002 model can be mounted as a 1U device, or outside of the 42U space. 18 sensors are supported (temperature, humidity, smoke, flood, electricity supply status or failure, entry to the room, digital inputs). The device is SNMP compatible. Two monitoring applications (PD Trigger and HWg-PDMS) are included free of charge.
Applications:
- Data centers: rack mount environment monitoring, remote rack monitoring, computer room temperature, SNMP environment monitoring system
- Air-conditioning monitoring: A/C operation and water leak detection, computer room temperature, humidity in the datacenter (inside racks, in the A/C outlet, under the raised floor), rack mount temperature monitoring system

HW group : TG-11 Temperature Logger With GSM Alert

GSM thermometer with temperature logging and alerting over SMS and e-mail (GPRS). In addition, Tg11 works as a temperature logger - it stores temperature values in its internal Flash memory (every 15 minutes) and e-mails stored data (every 4 hours) over GPRS.
Telit : GE865 - Smallest GSM/GPRS module on the market

Sequoia and HW group announce the Poseidon 3468. The latest product from the family of IP monitoring systems.
The Poseidon 3468 is an IP thermostat with 2 relay outputs, 4 dry contact inputs, and support for 4 sensors, with a built-in web server, output control and alarm alerts (e-mail and SNMP trap).
Two relay outputs rated up to 110/230V can be controlled manually over a web interface.
Jennic launch 3rd generation Zigbee PRO Wireless Microcontroller and Module

Reading, UK 20th May 2009: Sequoia Technology, the technology solutions provider specialising in wireless communications announces a new platform of IEEE802.15.4 and Zigbee PRO single chip MicroController and Modular products based on the new Jennic JN5148 32 bit RISC processor.
The combination of the lowest operating current consumption and highest memory density of any single chip wireless microcontroller, plus an innovative Time of Flight ranging engine, will enable the development of next generation wireless mesh networks for battery powered and data rich applications.
The JN5148 32 bit wireless microcontroller achieves a system operation current consumption of 18mA when receiving and 15mA in transmit at +3dBm, which is typically 35% lower than current solutions. With 128kB ROM and 128kB RAM and advanced coding efficiency giving better code compression, the JN5148 has sufficient space for developers to integrate their embedded application softare and the ZigBee PRO protocol stack into a single chip. It can also be used as a co-processor, enabling ZigBee PRO to be added easily and quickly to existing systems.
Programmable CPU clock speeds from 4 to 32MHz and the use of five seperate power domains provides the ability to select low power or high performance up to 32 MIPS CPU operation enabling the JN5148 to be used across the full range of applications - from low power battery backed networks to high I/O, processor intensive systems. A unique patent pending Time of Flight ranging engine integrated into the device revolutionises location based services for sensor networks by providing improved accuracy over conventional signal strength based systems with little incremental cost.
The first version of the JN5148 is offered with Jennic's Zigbee PRO stack and is supported by a comprehensive range of evaluation and development kits as well as reference designs, code examples and an online developer forum. In addition to the the standalone wireless controller, the JN5148 is available in a fully integrated uFL module optimised for standard power, or a +20dBm high power, providing a rapid and easy to implement route to product introduction.

Sequoia adds unique SMS printer..

The SMS printer, designed by Sequoia, is a unique and standalone small printer with a GPRS modem integrated. It receives SMS text messages and prints them on thermal paper. The unit can powered from 230VAC mains or 12v car battery making it truly portable and available for all situations. Great for fast food kitchens, taxis and delivery vehicles to receive precise instructions or requests on the move.
