The M1-3R2VI-DU is a dual link DVI video extender capable of sending dual-link DVI video at full resolution (2560x1600) over 2km using standard fibre optic cables.
The M1-3R2VI-DU consists of a transmitter and a receiver box connected using fibre optic cabling. The video source and display connects to the M1-3R2VI-DU using standard copper cabling. No drivers or software is required.
There are two modes of operation, both of which support the full video resolution of WQXGA (2,560x1,600; 60Hz) allowed by a dual link DVI video link.
In one mode, a standard CAT5e network cable is used to carry the slow speed DDC, hot plug and power while the video is transmitted over the fibre-optic cable. In this mode the total distance supported by the video link is 100m (330 feet). This has the advantage that no power supply is required on the receive end of the video link as the power is supplied via the CAT5e cable, and the full functionality of the DDC and hot plug is retained.
In the second mode, a self-EDID programming mechanism is used at install to copy the EDID of the display being used into the transmitting side of the fibre-optic DVI dual-link video connection. This allows the video link to operate solely over the fibre-optic cable, greatly increasing the distance over which dual-link DVI video can be sent. In this mode, the total distance supported by the video link is 2km (6,560 feet). A separate power input is required at the far end of the video link.
Fibre optic cables are not supplied with product as these are depend on the length of cable required in the installation. Multimode or single mode cables can be used. Four LC or two duplex LC fibre optic cables are required to create a working dual link DVI video link. Choose suitable cables from the table below:
|Part Number||Fibre type||Cable Type||Number required|
|LLMQ||Multimode||4 core LC - LC||1|
|LLSD||Single mode||Duplex LC-LC||2|
