The STEPP
is a Plug & Play GSM/GPS terminal with an embedded configurable software application. The device concept is targeting for direct implementation as a mobile client in a wide range of high volume, low-cost, flexible system solutions like AVL, fleet management, vehicle security and recovery and other related area. The STEPP architecture integrates high-performance Dual Band GSM core, 12 parallel channel low power GPS core with an embedded software application, car voltage range power supply circuitry with 1100 mAh LiIon backup battery, audio amplifier and interface circuitry. The embedded GPS history function can be configured using the travelling time, distance and speed as parameters. More than 100.000 records can be stored into the STEPP and transferred to the server upon request or by timer configuration. Depending on the configuration different localisation and status reports can be generated and send to the dispatcher upon request or at pre-defined time slots. Direct GSM data connection allows real time tracing of the mobile client in the field too.
The tracking functionality of the embedded mobile client application is combined with variety of alert messaging capabilities. The configurable alert messages contain current position and status report and use 4 digital and 2 analogue inputs as hardware back-bone. In addition to that two predefined digital inputs are detecting ignition line and main power (car battery) failure.
Depending on the specific system solution scenario four digital outputs allow the remote control of external actuators. The integrated two audio channels allow voice communication too.
| The STEPP-STARTERKIT provides an easy and efficient way to evaluate and configure all system parameters of the mobile client. The configuration of the STEPP can be done via local serial link or remotely via the GSM network. The STEPP concept reduces the efforts for the creation of a turn key tracking and security solution to the definition of the server (dispatcher) application. In this way the time-to-market, the design-in risk and the total cost of solution are substantially reduced |

XF-55 AVL
Programmable Tri-Band GSM/GPRS & GPS receiver module for AVL applications
The XF-55 AVL is the most innovative combined GSM/GPRS/GPS module allowing the users to write their own application using the embedded ARM7TDMI with eCos operating system.
The GPRS portion of the device is a multi-slot Class 10 MC55 module from Siemens operating in Tri-Band (900/1800/1900) frequencies. The GPRS coding schemes supported are CS-1, CS-2, CS-3 and CS-4.
The GPS portion employs the SiRF SSIIeLP 12 channel GPS chipset with low power operating modes and the embedded ARM processor. The integrated TCXO allows the support for high sensitivity SiRFXTrac software for indoor applications or for areas where the view of the sky is limited.
TCP/IP and GPS library applications are available in eCos for rapid development.
Features
- High performance Tri-Band GSM/GPRS core
- 12 parallel channel GPS core
- ARM7TDMI processor
- Power control circuit
- 2 x Audio channels
- 2MB Flash & 512KB SRAM
- 3.3V to 4.8V for GSM/GPRS module
- 3.3V for GPS
- Operating temperature –20 o to +55 o C
- 80 pin Board to Board connector
